Roget is a Green Saurus the hero can purchase in Shapeir.
Background[]
Apparently the Emir Arus al-Din was enchanted by Ad Avis or Al Scurva with Transmogrification in order to get rid of him. He eventually went into the possession of Ali Fakir from whom the Hero bought him.
While purchased Sauruses are forbidden from entering the city, they await in the Saurus Lot guarded by Uns al-Wujud or Abdallah bin Tahir. The Hero can ride Roget in the Shapeir Desert for faster travel and the ability to return immediately to the city by instructing Roget to do so. According to the Advanced Adventuring Course, while saurus mounts fight monsters with their riders, Roget rather ran away in terror whenever a monster appeared, throwing the Hero into the sand. However he was always found a skareen away, after the encounter ended.
Roget takes a real shining to the hero, breaking into the city on Day 8 to lick his face. Uns al-Wujud tries to keep him but waits outside the Katta's Tail Inn for the Hero to take him back to the stable. He does the same on Day 10 outside the Guild Hall. Finally he comes at the door of Aziza's House on Day 16 when she invites the Hero to share with him her knowledge about Raseir. Together they discover that Roget is actually the enchanted Emir Arus al-Din.
Aziza keeps Roget with her while the Hero is in Raseir to face Ad Avis. Upon his return the Emir returns to his real form after they give him to drink a Dispel potion.
