Fred the Troll is a Cave Troll who was domesticated by the brigands of Spielburg Valley. He guarded the Troll Cave, the secret back entrance to the Brigand Fortress, but would go into hiding in the Secret Passage if one said the words "Hiden Goseke" before entering the hidden passage. Apparently he was part of a conspiracy against Elsa, along with Bruno and Brutus.
In QFG1's EGA version he had a hidden stash of gold in the Troll Cave; however, it was impossible to discover without engaging the troll in combat.
He was much tougher than the average troll. You are very lucky or "better than the designers" if you can win this battle.[1]
